Our House

The photographer posted our wedding pictures online, and you can look at them on her website. They are under the same account as our engagement pictures, so you have to go to about the 4th page of albums, and it is under "Evenhouse/Platt." The password is: scottcolleen
In the meantime, Scott and I have been working to get me moved into his house. My house has not sold yet, so we can take our time, but we did want to get my clothes and bathroom stuff there right away. We also used some of the gift cards and stuff we got for the wedding to "enhance" his house a little bit.
Neither of us really liked the other person's bedding, so we compromised and bought new bedding! The beautiful wall hanging from Grandma H. and Aunt Judy matched perfectly!

We also bought a new microwave cart so that we would have room on the counter for other things. I'm sure once we actually move some of my kitchen stuff into the house the "room on the counter" will no longer exist...
We bought a corner shower caddy, a new curtain rod, and a shelf thing for the bathroom. This picture was taked before we actually put my stuff away, and this shelf is much prettier and neater now.

We also bought curtains for the living room, which was pretty important as we live on the corner, and the windows just had a single sheer over them. This gives us a little privacy, and also it looks nice!

We also got a rolling shade for the dining room, which had nothing before.

We're going to move more of my stuff in (piano, files, kitchen stuff, etc.), but obviously won't be able to move all of my furniture. That is the problem you face when both people own a fully furnished house. We are planning to buy a new house together some day, so when my house finally sells we will be putting stuff into storage in hopes to use it in the future. In the meantime, I can use my remaining furniture to "stage" my house for selling.
Speaking of my house, we had some excitement last week. We got home from the honeymoon on Friday night and checked on it, and it was doing ok. Saturday evening we stopped in again, and I thought I smelled mud, and heard a slight sound of running water. I went into the basement and water was flowing through the basement wall, across the floor, and down the drain! The bathroom pipes had burst! We turned off the water and arranged for the plumber to come on Monday. I have a steam boiler, so we had to check on that a couple times to make sure it didn't run out of water. Four pipes needed to be repaired! They are fixed now, but I have about 2 inches of mud on my basement floor. Fortunately, the water went down the drain and didn't ruin any thing that was stored in the basement. At the same time, it is going to be difficult for me to get any money back for all the water that ran, since I have no proof of the amount of water I went through.
We're very glad that we are living in Scott's house, and didn't have to live without water or heat for a couple days. At the same time, the list of things that should be fixed before I can sell my house is getting bigger (needs a furnace, insulate the pipes, clean the basement, etc.). I'm not really sure what to do at this point to get the house sold. It hardly ever shows, and no one has shown any interest. I definitely need to finish moving and then clean it up again. Any suggestions?

Before we sold our last house, we took a lot of stuff out. Some furniture, stored items, etc. Now that you're living with Scott, obviously a lot of your things will get moved. Empty closets too, makes rooms and closets look bigger. I'm sure your place is clean too, that is always good. Is your house listed online with pics? A lot of people who came to ours saw the pics online before they came.

PRAY! I'm sure you are already doing that, though.

List it yourself on Craigslist if it is not - it always helps - if you have a realtor - place their name/info in that ad. It's free and lasts a few days! Good pictures help & a positive description of the house and property & maybe a link to the town (to show the town, schools, etc). Maybe I should become a real-estate agent :) hehe
