Easter 2009

For Easter Scott and I went to my parent's house and had a nice meal with my family. Afterwards, Scott played with the kids. Rhea loves to pretend that we are her pony, and yells things she hears on Dora the Explorer, like, "Get Up, Pony! Come on Girl!" Never mind that Scott is not a girl...

Olivia was very interested in taking lots of pictures as well.
I made deviled eggs, and made a couple in the shape of chicks. This is the first time I have ever actually made deviled eggs, and it did not go well. I was putting in a dash of curry, and wham!, the lid came off, and tons of curry went in. I tried to scoop most of it out. Then we pretty much ran out of mayo, so the filling was pretty thick and chunky. I brought them along as they were so darn cute, but after we looked at them and oooh'd and aaaaah'd, we tried them, and the promptly threw them away. They were pretty gross. But cute!

Scott was lying on the living room floor, so Olivia came over and started feeding him little pieces of her roll. Sometimes, she put a little piece in her mouth, then took it out and gave it to Scott. He was a real trooper, and acted like it was delicious!

Then Olivia spilled some bread crumbs all over Scott's face, and decided to clean them up. One piece had fallen into his nose!! This next video starts just after she picked the bread out of his nose and fed it to him. She also spent some time picking crumbs out of his eye.

In other news, my sister Lynn is pregnant, due around September. They have never found out the gender of their baby in advance, but after having 5 girls decided it would be nice to know if it's a boy, as they will have to do some shopping for boy clothes and boy toys, just in case. Surprise! It's a Boy!!!

Carrie gets married on Saturday, so this week we are adding 2 boys to our family -- a future nephew, and a future brother-in-law. Very exciting.

Showers & Cars

We had a bridal shower for Carrie a couple weeks ago, with the bridesmaids and family. It was a lot of fun. Last weekend, she had her bachlorette party. Lynn and I joined them for supped in Des Moines, then Carrie and her friends went back to Ames without us. I regifted a couple of the wonderful books I received at a shower, and I'm sure Carrie greatly appreciated them...
Scott's birthday present finally came in. His birthday was on Valentine's Day, and I ordered new license plates for him in the beginning of February. They came in last week, so Friday Scott installed them. Cool!

On Tuesday on the way home, a truck passed me and spit a rock at me, and instantly cracked my windshield!! It started out about 6 inches long. It has been cold, and the crack is getting longer. This picture is taken through my windshield, and you can see the crack across it.

Regionals

Last weekend we hosted the Iowa Regionals Volleyball tournament. We had almost 180 teams, scattered across 14 sites, here for 2 days. We planned and organized the whole thing, so I have been working some crazy hours, plus i was a site director for the tournament on Saturday and Sunday. We have our second Regionals this weekend, with just over 180 teams. It has been quite a job emptying everything from the first tournament, then turning around and re-loading it all for the second weekend!

In addition, we also have High Performance tryouts at this time of year. I am the HP Coordinator, so I am in charge of entering all the people on spreadsheets, checking them in at tryouts, follow-up, and anything else you can imagine. We have our 3rd tryout this Friday night in Des Moines, then I go to Council Bluffs the next weekend for our 4th and final tryout. I have not been home on a Saturday since the end of February, and will have worked approximately 19 days in a row without a break by the time I have a day off. I'm tired. Plus, when I finally have a Saturday off, Scott will be away at drill that weekend. Is this still supposed to be the honeymoon period? :)
