Scott doesn't work on Fridays, so he often spends that day working around the house doing laundry, or whatever other jobs need to be done. Here was this week's job: our sump pump sent the water out the side of the house, where it promptly soaked into the ground and right back into the basement. So he put a drainage tube through the yard.
Here is the new shed that we bought. It was delivered Saturday morning, and we have not had a chance to put it up yet, so for the time being it is going to sit in the yard just like this.
This afternoon the temperature finally dropped from 97 degrees to a balmy 94 degrees, so I went outside to do a couple quick jobs. First, I had to fix the latch on my hatchback. The thing that connects the handle to the latch came out, so I had to push it back into the catch--which was harder than it seems, considering the plastic on the door didn't come off easily, so we had to just hold it out, which gave us about 3 inches to slide our hands in. Then the nob wouldn't go into the catch, and we somehow had to get a pliers in there as well. Eventually, we got it done...hopefully that will last, because I don't want to have to do that again!
We also put down the last little section of garden edging. Now we just have to get more woodchip mulch and possibly a few bedding perennials. You can also see my failed container herb garden...the one on the chair is now all weeks, and the others are water filled mosquito breeding grounds. I would have cleaned them out this afternoon, but I was getting eaten alive (by said mosquitos) and it was just too hot.
Finally, a moment to brag. I planted one cucumber plant, and one zuccini plant this year, and they are going crazy! These pics are a little fuzzy because the heat caused the camera to fog up as soon as I turned it on, but you can still see the garden. The zuccini plant is on the right edge, and the cucumber vine is taking over the rest of the front! And they are both producing! I think i've eated a cucumber a day for the last 3 weeks.
The tomatoes in the back are doing ok--there are lots on there, just waiting for them to get red. There are also 3 pepper plants in the middle. We had an anaheim pepper, but I left it on the vine too long hoping it would get bigger, and it just got rotten...i did pick one bell pepper today.

We have to do a similar sump pump project. I bet Scott would love to come help now that he's so experienced.
