I have been in Atlanta for the past week for USA Volleyball meetings and for adult nationals. This was the view from our hotel room for the first part of the week. We stayed in the Marriott Marquis, which is a really amazing hotel. The atrium extends from the main floor all the way to the top (41 stories), and there are glass elevators that go up the middle. It was very nice.
On Tuesday night a group of us went to Turner Field to see the Braves play the Mets. I was really excited, as I love the Braves, and I have never been to Atlanta or Turner field before. Carrie let me borrow a Braves jersey, and I bought a new cap here in Atlanta and wore it to the game.
Here I am with Jim Sixta and Michelle, excited for the game to start. We saw a few clouds in the sky...
Then the guys on the field started to put out the tarp. What is going on? Is that a raindrop I feel???
They announced a rain delay for an undetermined amount of time.
I was very sad, as we had gotten settled into our seats and were ready for the game to start. We decided to head down from the upper deck (we were in the nosebleed section) and get under some cover before the rain really started.
As you can see, the rain really was coming down hard. We were glad we weren't up there sitting in the upper deck while it rained!

We did wonder if we should leave or just stick around, but then we saw this rainbow, and I knew that the game would go on!! It finally started again at 8:50pm.
Then I was very happy.
The rain storm did cause there to be a really cool sunset, so I took a bunch of pictures of that. We ended up leaving in the 6th inning (TRAGIC!!!!) because it was already 11:15pm, which I suppose is a good reason. However, we did miss the collision by second base where the runner got a concussion and his forehead bled all over the dirt and the 2nd baseman went out with a bum knee. The Braves won 6-2. They are at home all week, but we haven't had a chance to go again. If we win our morning match tomorrow we can go to the afternoon game. Now they are playing the Diamondbacks, and have pretty much been getting creamed.
