We've been pretty busy the last couple weeks. We drove a couple Saturdays ago to Creston to get the windmill from Scott's Grandma's house. It needed to be re-painted, and eventually we decided to go with Hawkeye Black & Gold. On Sunday afternoon, we went outside and started scraping all the rust off the windmill, and eventually about 3 of the neighborhood kids came over and they all wanted to help scrape--so we let them! After a while they went in to supper, and I started spraying the primer. Shortly after that, another kid that lives down the street (who we hadn't met before) walked down, sat in our yard, and talked to us for about 45 minutes...I think he needed a friend. Anyway, here is Scott scraping and painting the first coat of black.
Earlier this week I noticed that a couple birds were hovering near the porch, and when I went to water my hanging basket, I found this inside:
Update--I think some bigger birds have now taken over the nest, as yesterday when i got home two of them attacked me. Not nice.
Scott got a box in the mail the other day, and it was a retirement gift from the Army! He got a flag, a pin, and a couple window clings.
I did some experimenting with burgers this week. I bought ground ham and mixed it with ground turkey, green onions, and some soy sauce. I grilled those, and also grilled some pineapple rings. Put a dash of teriyaki sauce on the top, and voila! They were pretty tasty!
